Prior to joining Capricorn, Barry was a senior investment professional at Silver Point Capital. Prior to Silver Point, Barry was a Director with Trivest, where he led the firm’s healthcare investing activities. Prior to Trivest, Barry was a founding Partner of Diamond Management Consultants, where he led the firm’s global healthcare and strategy practices.
Barry earned his BA from the Johns Hopkins University, Phi Beta Kappa. Barry read for a Diploma in Law and an MSc in Medicine at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Barry also received an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Shahab Vagefi is a Partner at Capricorn Healthcare. Prior to joining Capricorn Healthcare, Shahab was a member of the investment team at Capricorn Investment Group. Prior to Capricorn, Shahab was an investment professional in the U.S. Growth Buyout fund at The Carlyle Group – focused on middle-market buyout and growth equity investments primarily in the technology, media and telecommunications; business services; and education sectors. Previously, Shahab worked in investment banking with Credit Suisse First Boston and JP Morgan H&Q.
Shahab earned a joint BA-MA degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors in International Relations and International Economics at the Johns Hopkins University and the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He obtained an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Michael McCullough, MD is a Partner and Senior Clinical Advisor at Capricorn Healthcare. Michael was previously a Partner at Headwaters Capital Partners and a healthcare advisor to Venrock, NanoDimension, 2U, and Vocera. Michael was Founder of QuestBridge, BeAGoodDoctor.Org and RegenMed Systems. Michael advises multiple tech oriented funds on medical investments including Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures. Michael was elected a Kauffman Fellow in 2009 and an Ashoka Fellow in 2004.
Michael earned his BA from Stanford University, Phi Beta Kappa, in Human Biology. Michael obtained a M.Sc. in Diagnostic Imaging from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and read for a M.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Michael obtained his MD from UCSF and Emergency Medicine board certification from Stanford. Michael is a part-time Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford and UCSF affiliated trauma centers. He serves on the board of the Dalai Lama Foundation.
Aabed Meer, MD is a Director at Capricorn Healthcare. He has also been an Investment Associate at Capricorn Investment Group focused on healthcare investments. Prior to Capricorn, Aabed spent time with New Enterprise Associates, as well as the medical device incubator, ExploraMed Development. He has researched health economics issues domestically and abroad with Kaiser Permanente and the UK’s National Health Service.
Aabed received an undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University, where he also attended medical school and served on a committee of the university’s Board of Trustees. He is a published author and his work has been cited by The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek and ABC News.
Mario Moreno is a Director at Capricorn Healthcare. Prior to joining Capricorn Healthcare, Mario worked as an Associate in the Buyout fund at The Carlyle Group focused on equity investments in the healthcare sector. Prior to Carlyle, Mario worked in investment banking with Credit Suisse focused on M&A, leveraged finance, equity and debt capital market transactions primarily in the Retail & Consumer and Latin America groups.

Owen Davis is a Director at Capricorn Healthcare.
